There is no one method.
Embrace student-centric learning.
Everybody learns differently, because everybody is a unique individual. As music is a language that transcends boundaries, we believe it is important not to reinforce boundaries when it comes to learning how to play music. While our teachers must have a comfortable grasp of traditional methods of musical instruction and theory, we value more the ability to guide a student towards the way that is most fulfilling and effective for their personality, goals, and musical passions.
Be guided, not taught. You are your own teacher. Quite simply, without your dedication and passion for learning, you will never become a musician. Therefor, our teachers leverage their considerable and varied experience to guide you towards finding the path that will lead you more efficiently towards that passion. For some students, a traditional approach works best; for others, a different direction is required.
You have the choice to work with your teacher to plot a route for your own advancement, or to allow your teacher to decide what steps to take next. It's up to you. |
Affordable pricing, flexible times. Most of our lessons are just $125/month. A month of lessons consists of 4 private lessons, 1 per week, at 30 minutes each. We strive to maintain a scheduling policy that is both flexible and fair for teacher and student. Generally a student will come the same day and time each week.
Cancellations are not penalized, and even no-shows are forgiveable to some degree. Life happens. We also offer single lessons. They will need to be scheduled ahead of time with the instructor. The goals of a single lesson are usually more to explore a single subject in detail, or to address a particular challenge or obstacle the student is having. Please contact us if you have further questions. |

As San Jose is a place which has come to embrace cultural diversity, so do our teachers. We are able and willing to teach and explore music from multiple cultural backgrounds. |
